Global Compassion Community Gathering:
Self-Compassion: An Antidote to Shame in Leadership
Free Community Event + Guest Speaker Chris Germer
September 18, 2025 1:00-2:00 PM ET / 17:00-18:00 UTC
Welcome friends! We invite you to connect with the global community of compassionate colleagues and change-makers. Together we will explore Self-compassion, a critical tool for business leaders, supporting both individual wellbeing and organizational effectiveness. A key mechanism is self-compassion as an antidote to shame. With less shame, leaders can recognize and learn from inevitable mistakes rather than internalizing them as personal failures. They become more positive, growth-oriented, and emotionally resilient. Self-compassion also helps leaders stay connected with their leadership roles, be more authentic, and foster a safe, supportive workplace environment. Please register for the free event to reserve your spot.
We are delighted to welcome Chris Germer, PhD as our guest presenter. Chris is a clinical psychologist and lecturer on psychiatry (part-time) at Harvard Medical School. He co-developed the Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program with Kristin Neff in 2010 and they wrote three books: The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook, Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout, and Teaching the Mindful Self-Compassion Program. MSC has been taught to over 250,000 people worldwide. Dr. Germer is also the author of The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion and he co-edited two influential volumes on therapy: Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, and Wisdom and Compassion in Psychotherapy. Dr. Germer lectures and leads workshops internationally and he has a small psychotherapy practice in Massachusetts, USA.
An open dialogue for Q&A will follow Chris’ presentation. This is a wonderful forum to have your questions answered and to share in the wisdom of the community.
The Global Compassion Community Gathering is co-hosted by Laura Berland and Evan Harrel, co-founders of the nonprofit Center for Compassionate Leadership, and Monica Worline, one of the preeminent voices bringing compassionate practices into organizations, co-author of the foundational book “Awakening Compassion at Work: The Quiet Power that Elevates People and Organizations” and Faculty Director of the Center for Positive Organizations at the University of Michigan.
Please register for this 60-minute celebration to connect, explore, and practice with like-mined leaders from around the world. The event will be recorded for those who cannot attend live and still wish to share in the powerful energy and inspiration.
We look forward to being together as we collectively spark action to birth a more compassionate world!
